The grapes for this Chianti Gran Selezione (Top Selection) come from a single 20 years old vineyard: 100% Sangiovese grapes for this amazing wine.
The work in the vineyards and the resulting low production yield (45-50 q / ha of grapes) make this Chianti a real wine-expert pick. The 2010 vintage had fresh temperatures and more rainfalls than the average, causing a late-ripening of the grapes and a late October harvest. This gives this wine an intense and persistent bouquet with notes of red berry fruit, with hints of vanilla and spices. Persistent and balanced, with a pleasantly fresh finish, for a Chianti in which tannins result complex and well integrated at the same time. This Chianti ages in new 5hl barrels for 25 months. The refining in bottle is of at least 12 months.
