The Aosta Valley soil is mainly composed of gritty and its territory is characterize by high altitude. Wine taste are consequently very typical: more than ten grape varieties are considered native to the region; most of them are used as blends. The most cultivated red grape is a local version of Nebbiolo, the Picotendro, while the Moscato Bianco and the local Pinot Grigio are made into fruity white wines, both in dry or sweet version.
