The velvety Liburnio IGT is a glorious addition to the wine collection of Orlandi Contucci Ponno. The smoothest blend of this wine is achieved through Cabernet Sauvignon (70%), Cabernet Franc (10%), Merlot (15%), and Petit Verdot (5%).
The grapes produced in French old way are handpicked and carefully selected. These undergo extended maceration for 12 to 15 days with berry skin attached to maximize extraction of color and aromatic compounds.
After the juice has undergone fermentation under controlled temperature, the liquor is extracted with gentle pressing and collected in small oak barriques to be aged for 18 months.
At the end of this period, the wine is bottled and kept in cellar for one year to add ample volume to it before it is presented in market.
This magnificent blend of peppery Liburnio IGT is produced in the region of Abruzzo. The grapes grown by Orlandi Contucci Ponno are harvested from late September to early October on the Montepagano hills facing southward. With spring pruning and manual thinning on the blended soil the production per year yields 70 to 80 quintals per hectare.
After decanting the wine is to be served at room temperature with the suitable companions like onion soup, blue cheeses, roasted red meats, big game meats, and ripe cheeses.
